Recognizing students and their achievements:
- Forest Falcons - This is a group of six 4th graders who are chosen by their teacher. These students spend six weeks every Friday with me. We eat lunch together, discuss challenges or successes for the week, and learn new skills.
- Soop-er Kids - Students who are part of this group are in third or fourth grades or are recommended by their teacher. These students meet for three weeks, during lunch. They are released in time for recess. SOOP-er stands for Solving Our Own Problems and teaches students to work together.
- Student of the Week - A student is picked every week by their classroom teacher as student of the week. Their pictures are placed on the bulletin board across from the office. Students receive a certificate and a pencil from the Forest Falcons. The student of the Week is announced on Friday around 1:00 p.m.
- Dynamite Kids - Each month a student is chosen by their classroom teacher and announced at the monthly assembly (check calendar for dates). A group picture will be displayed on the bulletin board outside the office and will be placed in the paper. Students will receive a certificate, bumper sticker, and a McDonald's certificate. Dynamite Kids are sponsored by McDonalds and the Rotary Club.
- BUGS - Bringing Up Grade Successfully - Students who bring grades up in one subject or more without letting any other grades drop receive the BUGS award. This award is given each 9 weeks after the first nine weeks. Students will be recognized at the monthly assembly and names will be displayed on the bulletin board across from the office.
- Banner of Manners - Awarded to the class who demonstrates exceptional manners in the hall, special classes, lunch rooms, when visitors arrive, etc. Classes are voted on by people who work in the office, lunch room, library, music, art, p.e., custodians, etc. The class that wins will be announced at the monthly assembly and receive the Banner of Manners and lead the classes out of the assembly. The class is also put in for a drawing at the end of the year for an ice cream party.
- Golden Trashcan Award - Awarded by the custodian for the classroom that keeps their room picked up above and beyond expectations. The class is announced at the monthly assembly and awarded the "Golden Trashcan" full of goodies.
- Honor Roll - Students who achieve academic success by maintaining A's or A's/B's will be identified in the Harrison Daily Times each nine weeks.
- Community Involvement - Students who have participated in extra curricular or community events will be recognized during our monthly assembly. Students will be responsible for turning in their achievement.
