Engagement (Hook):
Counselor sings the "Give Me Five Song" and has the class practice listening to directions in a noisy setting and in a quiet setting.
Instructor Procedures:
1. Counselor tells the students that today they will be talking about responsibility and how responsiblity effects the way we behave in the classroom. Counselor explains that listening is a responiblity in the classroom.
2. Counselor asks the students, “What is responibility?, and define the word as doing what we are supposed to do when we are supposed to do it.
3. Counselor brings up the "wedolisten" web site and uses the animated story for Howard B. Wigglebotton Learns to Listen by Howard Binkow.
4. Counselor uses the activity for determing when Howard is listening from the website.
5. Counselor has students to draw themselves listening in the classroom.
